As part of his recent attendance at the 11th BRICS Summit in Brazil, President Cyril Ramaphosa unveiled the portrait bust of Sol Plaatje by Anton Momberg at the Itamaraty Palace. Plaatje was a South African intellectual, journalist, linguist, politician, translater and writer.
Plaatje was also a founding member and the first General Secretary of the South African Native National Congress, which became the African National Congress.
