Mfundo Mthiyane was born on the 25th of September in 1991 in Durban in a township called Kwadabeka currently based in Johannesburg, Mfundo Mthiyane studied at CFAD (Centre For Fine Art, Animation and Design) college for his multimedia diploma. He has worked in design studios and advertising agencies in Johannesburg.

He has exhibited in two group exhibitions held by African Art Centre, the first one he was in was in 2012 called Spaces and Places. Second group exhibition he was featured in 2014 was

called Emerging Artists. 2019 October 18 he was featured on a group show named Emerge at the Station House DTSP in USA Saint Petersburg, Florida.

I'm a figurative and portrait painter. I usually work from photograph; I draw inspiration from music, books, magazines, movie scenes and I also draw inspiration from everyday life scenes.

In my work I try to capture choas and order with figures in spaces; chaos representing the struggles we as human beings go through and order denoting our resilience. These figures look incomplete as an embodiment of us because we're also not complete but enough.
